  • Science PCB is the subject one should pass out with in 10+2.
  • One can apply for BDS. Specialization in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is done after completion of the three year post graduation. Master of Dental Surgery and is recognized by Dental Council of India.
  • A person required skilled training & communication skills to understand the problem and further to convey the solution.
  • The profession involves highly complicated cases that require immense concern. Orthodontic technology is constantly upgrading and hence doctors need to keep themselves updated.

  • Jobs as dentists are widely available in dental hospitals. Dentists not willing to work in hospitals practice by owning private dental clinics.
REMUNERATION
In dental hospitals a fresher can start earning between 18k to 45k and can improve the scale with further experience.
A successful and dentist can even earn upto 20k to 70k for a single surgery.
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
There are four entrance exam for admission to post graduate course in orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics in all medical colleges of India.
NEET-PG is the eligibility cum ranking exam prescribed as the single entrance exam to various MD/MS & PG Diploma courses.
FEE STRUCTURE
The fee structure in MDS in government colleges range from 25k to 60k per annum. In private colleges however, the annual fee begins from 4 lac onwards.
The education in this specialization abroad range from 12 lac to 25 lac.
